Online software provider, Playtech Ltd., has entered into a deal to buy Intelligent Gaming Solutions, supplier of software for land-based casinos.
Playtech, one of the leading names in the field of online gaming software, has agreed to purchase Intelligent Gaming Solutions (IGS). IGS is a company that concerns itself with software management systems for land-based casinos and gaming locations. The systems include the management of poker, table games and slots and also deal with both cashless and cash operations.
The deal reportedly involves a preliminary payment of ₤2.5 million that will be followed by an additional sum that will be founded on the success and prosperity of IGS during the next three years. This second amount will not be more than ₤3 million.
This purchase seems to imply that Playtech will make a move into the land-based casino software industry and in addition this purchase will open up the door for cross-platform opportunities.
Mor Weizer, Chief Executive at Playtech commented that "The IGS management team has a long track record in the development of such systems and we are delighted to welcome them into the Playtech family. They will enhance our capabilities in a product area which will further our attractiveness to land-based operators."
The founder of IGS, Martin Sykes also commented on the agreement, noting that "This deal will underpin the growth of IGS and we very much look forward to the future as part of the Playtech team, contributing to the development of a leading cross-platform solution."
