Women Poker Players - Vanessa Selbst Poker Pro

Vanessa Selbst is a Yale graduate and professional female poker player on the rise. Nearing $1,000,000 in earnings, she is truly proving that she belongs.

Vanessa Selbst is a native New Yorker. She was born in Brooklyn and is proving herself to be one of the premiere female poker players in the United States. Not only is Selbst a threat at the tables and a handful for her opponents, she is extremely smart, having graduated from Yale University, where she was a Fulbright scholar. Prior to that, she attended M.I.T, participating in varsity athletics. Selbst is a young player at only 24 years old. However, she has routinely outplayed those much more experienced then herself. She began receiving notoriety in 2006 when she made it to the final table in a $2000 No Limit-Hold’em WSOP Main Event. Selbst would wound up in 7th place and $101, 285 richer. On her way to seventh place, she would oust Carlos Mortenson, a former World Champion.

When Vanessa is not playing poker, she enjoys giving back to her community. She works closely with“Make the Road by Walking.” This is a not-for-profit organization that is based in her home town of Brooklyn, NY. They help fight for economic justice and civil rights for lower-income individuals. One day she would like to eventually to law school, become a lawyer and focus on human rights issues. However, for right now, she is pretty satisfied beating her opponents and making a name for herself nationally and internationally on the felt as one of the best female pokers currently playing.
