Kathey Liebert has had a very impressive poker career, earning millions of dollars and beating some of the world’s best players.
Kathy Liebert won her first World Series of Poker event and bracelet in 2004, participating in the Limit Hold’em Shootout. Though this was her first bracelet, this was by no means her first big success. One year earlier, she was the runner up in a WSOP Limit Hold’em tournament. She also made the final tables at a few World Poker Tour (WPT) events, most notably, Aruba and Ladies Night Invitational. She won the WPT’s first Party Poker Million and took home $1,000,000. Today, she is one of the highest female, money earners in the game.
Liebert’s original plan was to enter Marist College and graduate with a degree in business and finance. She did just that, entering the workforce as a Business Analyst. She was also interested in working in the stock market in some capacity. Though she has been a long time stock market investor, and a very successful one at that, she decided to forego a career in this field and instead decided to try to make her mark on the poker world. It was her earnings in the stock market that allowed her to quit her day job.
Kathy’s first foray into professional poker was as a compensated player at a local, Colorado casino. She would play along with the customers. To make sure that she was always at top form, she began a self-study program on her own. She would read poker books written by many of the top players. From there, she began to enter tournaments, her first one in Las Vegas, Nevada. She had a good deal of success early on and was even the runner up in her first tournament. She received $34,000 for her efforts. Not bad for a few days “work.”
Poker fans have likely seen a lot of Kathy at many of the top poker tournaments and television shows. She has participated on the World Poker Tour (Travel Channel), Poker Royale (GSN) and Poker Super Stars.
Liebert has become one of the most successful female poker players in the world. She has been one of the highest grossing female players in winnings for some time down, sitting very high on the list in 2007. She has earned millions of dollars and is well known for her huge Party Poker win (one million dollars). She has also won a gold bracelet in 2004 ($1500 Shootout) and $110,180 for her play.
Kathy continues to be a force to be reckoned with in every event that she enters. She is an experienced player who has seen a lot of success. She has competed in many of the best tournaments and faced some of the toughest players in the game. Subsequently, she is a seasoned, heady and smart player and is always a handful for anyone she comes up against. It has been nice seeing Liebert’s ascent. Hopefully, she will continue with her good fortune and winning ways. It is a pretty sure bet that you will continue to see her at some of the toughest events battling it out with both men and women.
