Pineapple Poker is a popular form of poker which has its own unique strategies that poker players must learn.
Pineapple Poker is a variation of the popular Texas Hold’em style of poker. In this version of the game, players receive three hole cards unlike Texas Hold’em which has two. This means that you have an increased chance of holding a good hand with Pineapple Poker. Typically, there are more people in the pot with pineapple poker and the average winning hands of Pineapple Poker is generally stronger than a similar hand in Texas Hold’em.
The game also has a twist where the players discard one of their hole cards during the progress of the game, at a certain designated point. Once the players receive their cards, they begin a round of betting, after which they can choose to discard one of their hole cards. In the more popular Crazy Pineapple game, the hole cards are discarded after the flop. After this point, the game is exactly like Texas Hold’em.
There are some standard strategies for playing Pineapple Poker, and this article lists all of them out for your next game of Pineapple Poker. The most important thing to remember in Pineapple Poker is that any hand that is discarded and Ace increases the value of the hand that is held. Aces are not as valuable in Pineapple Poker as in Texas Hold’em. Also, while King-Queen in an off suit is a great hand to hold in Texas Hold’em, in Pineapple Poker, this hand is not very likely to take the pot.
Another thing to remember while playing Pineapple Poker is that all players will have a flush draw virtually every time, in every suit. While a flush draw is rare in Hold’em Poker, in Pineapple Poker, if there is a pot with 4 or more people at the flop, and there is a flush draw that hits, then there is a very high chance of someone drawing that flush draw.
Jamming the Pot: There is a lot of money to be made playing pineapple poker, more so you could earn playing poker games like Omaha and Texas Hold’em. As a result, most players have a higher hand going into the flop than in Texas Hold’em, and there will be several people betting at the flop. Winning the jammed pot could mean that you could walk away with a neat sum of money.
Big Suit Draws: Facing a Jammed Pot going into the flop means that the cards you hold with big suit are much more valuable than in Texas Hold’em. Holding a Jack-Queen with a big suit, you could be against a few Aces and Kings, but there is still a chance of a nut flush draw or even a possibility of a straight. There is also an option of flopping a set if you see that the board displays two Queens or Jacks.
Pairs: There is a great chance of going away with the pot with pairs in Pineapple Poker. Usually, a pair by itself is not enough, but when combined with other strong cards, it could mean that you win a lot of money.
Backdoor Flush Draw: In pineapple poker, a backdoor flush, if it is drawn, will most probably take the flop. This is especially possible if you play aggressively.
