Keno lottery is kind of like the state lottery - you pick several numbers on a ticket, and hope to match the numbers drawn from the ping-pong ball machine.
Unfortunately it is also like the state lottery in that the odds are very bad. Casino Keno lottery has the highest edge of any game in the casino - 25% or more.
What is called standard Keno lottery in casinos these days is the variation sometimes referred to as Nevada keno or 'race horse'. Many keno lottery methods were designed over the years. Overall Keno lottery methods can be divided into 6 major categories: Straight Tickets, Split Tickets, Way Tickets, Combination Tickets, King Tickets, and Special Tickets.
Straight tickets are the basic ticket, and the most common keno lottery variation. You mark your numbers and wait for the draw. First, decide how many spots you want to play. Most keno casinos allow you to choose one to fifteen spots, and some even allow you to choose 20, 32 or 40 numbers on a straight ticket.
You will usually want to play four to eight numbers. Below four spots, your payoff is not worth the average 30% casino edge. At eight numbers, your odds are about 230,115 to one. At nine spots it jumps to 1.38 million to one, and at fifteen spots your chances of hitting all fifteen are 428,010,179,098 to 1 (that is 428 BILLION).
The 2nd and last decision is to decide how much to bet. Common straight tickets are one dollar, although some are seventy cents or lower. You can also play multiples of the base rate. For example, you could play a dollar ticket for $5.00, and your winnings will be multiplied by 5 times the dollar payout rate.
Take note: You should be aware that the casino will not pay more than the aggregate limit on any one game when you are playing multiples of the base rate. So if the aggregate limit is 50,000 US dollars, your payout will never exceed 50,000 dollars, no matter how much you bet.
A keno lottery split ticket is two or more straight tickets played on the same physical paper ticket. Each logical ticket consists of a set of numbers that are either separated by a line or circled. Each game or group of numbers must have its own exclusive unique numbers, and can’t share numbers with any other group. Split ticket has no special advantage: it only allows you to play 2 or more games on the same paper ticket. The split ticket disadvantage is that you can’t use the same number more than once.
Keno lottery way tickets can be complicated but it has two advantages. Firstly it is more convenient for some players to mark multiple games on one ticket. Secondly, some casinos will let you play for as little as 10 cents per way, instead of the usual dollar you would have to play on a straight ticket.
